Re: 1954 Rear Crossmember Design

Thanks maxim. Is it the one-piece style like in Sal's post? If so, every '54 so far has the late style.

Re: 1954 Rear Crossmember Design

A correction to my earlier report. I misunderstood one of the responses and after clarification, it is 100% on the one-piece/late style pintle on the '54s, at least as early as 23 January. Any '53 owners out there have the one-piece pintle as shown in Sal's post? They had to start using them at some...

Re: 1954 Rear Crossmember Design

Milsurp, Yes, that sounds like it would be the early style pintle hook without the adapter being bolted straight to the crossmember. Sal, That is the one-piece/late style pintle that is on my truck also. As an update, I sent emails out to all the '54 owners in the registry. Every response except one...

Re: 1954 Rear Crossmember Design

Milsurp, Yes, by swivel I meant rotating. The pintle should rotate 360 degrees, clockwise or counter. The ones that are bolted to the frame are the early style pintle hook without the adapter (rotating shaft that passes through the frame) bolted straight to the frame crossmember. The adapter may hav...

Re: 1954 Rear Crossmember Design

That's how I put mine back on - partially in and keep feeding it in until the nut was seated. I have about the same clearance.

Thanks for the info, more '54s with late style pintles!

Re: 1954 Rear Crossmember Design

Thanks for the feedback. That's interesting. Gary, what is your delivery date on your truck? So, at least three '54s are known to have the later style pintle/crossmember configuration. Don't know why they would change them unless they found the pintle design shared with the M38A1 & 1/4ton traile...

1954 Rear Crossmember Design

Greetings all, I have a late style pintle on my 1954. Now, by late style, I mean the pintle hook and pivoting shaft are one piece instead of two piece as on the early M37s. I had always thought those were the B1 style pintle so they wouldn't have been used before 1958. So, I found an early style (tw...

Re: NP-200 Idler Pre-Load Spacer

That is how I set mine up - measure the case front thickness then matched it in what I had laying around. Mine measured to about 0.885" or 22.5mm. There was no play when I got it back together so I must have been pretty close. I didn't see the WC63 manual. Terry, thanks for the dimensions.

Re: Anyone going to Iola?

I'm headed out in the morning. Plan to be there but if not, I'm probably looking at something on a table. I know of two others from Indiana there with M37s (though I don't think either are registered on this site). Between the three of us, hopefully one of us can tell time.

Re: Who Manufactured the M37 Hard Top ??

Well, since the thread is relatively fresh again, I can add that the contract number on the tag does fall in the format used during the early 50s to early 60s era. So, I would say guess this to be for the 3/4ton truck of the era, AKA M37. You can also research more on the contract number formats (an...

Re: GE 4860 Headlights....Where to Buy

Kevin hits most of the big shows and a lot here in the mid-west. He is out of Kentucky. He is usually at the Iola, WI show if you get up there. I don't know about the ebay store either but his prices are competitive meaning sometimes he has the best prices and sometimes you can find a better deal a ...

The spacers I have are 3/8" high/thick by 3/4" wide. I think I got mine from Sid years back.

Re: Findlay, OH. show

Jerry, I'll be there Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Terry Rizzon is clearing out a bunch of M37 stuff and I plan to comb through his stuff pretty good. I always find something at his spot. That is definitely my first stop this year. Race you for the good stuff! He always sets up at the corne...

Re: Front Flexible Brake Hose Length

Bert, Thanks for the information. I found the NAPA PN to show as UP 4000 (no UBPs in the database) and lists it as a 19.5" hose. The Raybestos BH 4000 lists as a 19.25" hose. The CarQuest PN also is 19.25" long. Additionally I found a Bendix number that cross-matches to the above and ...
