Newstar Flasher unit issues...anyone else???
I picked up a new flasher unit at the Aberdeen show...unfortunately I can't remember who I bought it from. Put it on my M37 and when i moved the signal arm the circuit breaker immediately tripped it did this three times. (Put it on the M35A2 and it fried the jumper wire I used to ground it...Obvious...

Re: Front Differential Update
Well as usual repairs took far longer than anticipated but she was out for a drive yesterday and there were no strange noises from the rebuilt front differential. Many thanks to powerwagontim who provided me a T/O differential and the rebuild kit (and builds a heck of a shipping crate!!). Overhaulin...

Re: PENION SEAL
I got mine out recently with the sheet metal screw/slide hammer approach. I drilled 8 holes around the seal then worked my way around with the slide hammer just a couple of slaps on each hole. Had to replace the #10 screw a couple of times as the threads began to fail. Took 3-4 trips around before t...

Re: Pinion Seal Replacement
Now for the seal. I tried the drill holes, insert sheet metal screws and use puller, but I couldn't get a good bite on the screws, so I got out the Dremel with the cut off disks and started cutting and chiseling. Several hours, many disks and lots of cussing later, what was left of the old seal cam...

Front Differential Update
I got my front differential that had been acting up http://www.g741.org/PHPBB/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4183 out and disassembled. Charles was spot on (as usual) with his diagnosis. One spider gear shaft was in three pieces, there were some teeth missing and the other teeth seriously chewed up. The ma...

Removing the differential
Haven't been on here in awhile as the M37 has been working OK. However now she has a problem, the front wheels don't drive in 4wd. Found out while I was trying to winch a neighbors van out of the mud. Got the M37 stuck. Front wheels would jerk occasionally accompanied by a banging sound. (had to get...

Interesting read, Carter! I guess that's the way Dodge wanted it done. My Chilton's manual never mentioned doing it that way. I can understand doing the compression check when the engine is warm, but if it won't start ya still have to take a cold reading. Also, why do they recommend an open throttl...

Been There Done that
Brings back memories... We had an M151a1 in the motor pool that wouldn't start. it would pop and stutter but not start. Typical motor pool approach throw parts at it till it worked. New plugs, points...nada. Motor Sgt figured it had to be the oil pressure safety switch. Whilst they were replacing th...

So I guess if I send them $17.98 and tell them to hold my copies I can swing by their office and pick them...
