Re: Original Tires?
Yep, those show up now & then, usually from M101 trailers and such. I'd be suspect about them, due to their age and coming apart driving at speed. Interesting that they show up on trailers more often. Is that due to less use? I don't know what truck they came off, but there were 3 of th...

Original Tires?
I just bought a set of wheels with tires. The wheels or 3 of them were GoodYear wheels, with Goodyear flaps, tubes, and tires..AND the date code on the tires were 1952, the same year as the wheels... Is it possible that those tires are what was originally installed on those rims? Also the tires or 2...

Re: Power steering kit
I've wondered if electric power steering is an option... I've not looked into any details but my engine room is already full with snow plow pump and valves... which is part of why I would like power steering.. I am in the the woods with the truck as well, but plowing is when I need a third arm.

Re: Trailering with Uhaul
I've never flat towed anything... Years ago I realized it was an option, and began exploring more about it.. If you had a Duce and a half, then you could tow an M37... but an M37 will not flat tow well when compared to an overloaded trailer! I would not tow an M37 with a 3/4 or one ton truck due to ...

Re: Idler arm and bracket slop: Can it be repaired?
That is probably the best, easiest and cheapest solution, as well as the fastest. And maybe hitting it with grease or synthetic grease weekly will reduct the long term wear? At the moment I am putting 1000-1500 miles a year, and plowing snow in the winter accounts for 1/4 of that. I guess a new one ...

Idler arm and bracket slop: Can it be repaired?
I have some wandering in my truck when the crown of the road changes. I have isolated it down to the idler arm having some side to side movement. In searching through past threads, I am seeing that Charles Talbert has welded them up to remove the slop and fix the problem long term. Has anyone else d...

Re: Window channel adjustments
Where are you putting the Teflon sliders? You can find Teflon plastic on Amazon, but most of it is white. It's also expensive If you can't find black Teflon, you might try UHMW plastic instead. It's often referred to as "poor man's Teflon". It's less expensive than Teflon and almost as sl...

Re: Window channel adjustments
I'm looking at adding some "teflon sliders" to my daily driver. Only problem is I have no idea where to find such material or even where to look. What little success I have had, shows the teflon strips as white in color rather than the black shown in the pictures. Any leads and suggestions...

Re: Transfer case parking brake seal removal
PS The M37 maintenance manual(s) say when installing a companion flange oil seal to "coat the outer surface of oil seals with plastic-type gasket cement and position seals in bearing retainers with lip of leather toward bearing. Install oil seals in retainers with a companion flange and plasti...

Re: Tie rod, castle nut/slotted nut question
Yes I have that manual, and the rubber-washer-spring is installed below the knuckle as intended.
The only thing I can imagine is that the knuckle-tie rod hole is too big?

Tie rod, castle nut/slotted nut question
I am just getting done replacing the upper and lower knuckle bearings in an attempt to get rid of a road crown induced wander. My question is this: The tire rod appears ball and threaded portion gives the appearance of being too long. When the Castle nut is torqued down the cotter pin is basically a...
