Re: Spark Plug gap with electronic ignition?

Thanks, Andy. I do have the stock wires. 7000 miles on the ignition so far with no problems.

Spark Plug gap with electronic ignition?

I'm running a Pertronix MV-161A electronic ignition in my 251 engine. I thought I read somewhere that you should use a different plug gap with electronic ignition as compared to what is recommended for a points & condenser system, but I can't find that reference now. The manual calls for .028 to...

Re: Filament to LED Light Bulbs??

Some flasher systems will not work with LED lights. Something about the different resistance of LEDs throws them off.

Re: Power steering kit

I've wondered if electric power steering is an option... I've not looked into any details but my engine room is already full with snow plow pump and valves... which is part of why I would like power steering.. I am in the the woods with the truck as well, but plowing is when I need a third arm. Can...

Re: Power steering kit

Personally, exercise is cheaper. I run stock steering and have for 10 years of daily driving. I'm an old man and not buff. It only sucks parallel parking. A poor power steering installation was on my truck when I bought it. When it had issues, I was fine driving it on the road, even with the tiny C...

Re: Headlight - Parking light Question

Parking lights ONLY come on when the headlight switch is on and the instrument light switch is all the way down. The headlights do NOT come on in this position. The headlights only come on if the instrument lever is off or instrument positions. Parking lights do not come on in service brake. Parkin...

Re: Headlight - Parking light Question

My lighting wiring is a bit non-standard, so my own truck is not a good reference. I've attached a light switch operation diagram (shows the various switch positions) and an internal wiring diagram for the 3 lever light switch. Tracing the connections here helps figure out how things are supposed to...

Re: Headlight - Parking light Question

Headlights should only come on at the far right setting on the upper switch.

Re: Fuel pump

I went with electric and eliminated the mechanical pump when I had a freshly rebuilt 251 installed in my M37. If the mechanical pump starts having issues, you risk ruining your engine if you don't catch it before it fills your crankcase with gas. You are stuck, need a tow home, and are down until yo...

Re: M37CDN "Gertrude"

I have not removed mine. I'm thinking I might want that support in there for when there are heavy loads on the tailgate.

Re: M37CDN "Gertrude"

Is the tailgate supposed to be able to drop all the way down until it hits the bumpers? Mine hangs up on that center support, leaving the tailgate in the way when I'm trying to load heavy objects.

Re: Steering Knuckle Bearings

I am the last person you want to take advice from on the steering knuckles. However, I thought I read somewhere that a bearing on the upper side will not take the beating that the bronze cones will. I think what I saw said that brinelling of the bearings/races was common if they were used in the upp...

Weren't some of these converted to door mounts in the field?
