Re: SC M37
What did you use for a carb?
I have a Weber K-550-38 on the 251 engine in my M37. It made a noticeable difference in acceleration (though I still get people waving and hollering, and I think indicating I'm #1 ??, when they pass me going up a hill). I'm also getting about 10% better gas mileage.

Re: Ignition tun up kits/parts
I went with a Pertronix electronic ignition. It's been working very well for me for about 9000 miles now.
Pertronix happens to have them on sale at the moment. For a 24V system with the stock military distributor, you want the

Re: Alt or Volt gauge for a '52
Wires 8 & 9 from the regulator are for an amp meter.
If you want a volt meter, just pick up wire 27 from the instrument cluster (it's grounded through the panel).

Re: ETW1 CARB REBUILD QUESTIONS
If you are worried about internal corrosion on your carb, one of the first things to do is use only ethanol free gas. Some people run E10 gas (10% ethanol) without problems. however, ethanol has been known to cause corrosion issues, especially in engines which are not run regularly. If E0 gas is not...

Re: Source for M43 spark plug wires
i think I remember reading somewhere that M Series Rebuild was offering some sort of plug wires. Can't recall if they were exact replacements, or adapters to plug into the military distributor on one end, and a modern sparkplug on the other.

Re: Tire chains to fit 11.00 R16 tires
Yes, customer service has suffered. I went back through my old emails from TireChain. I had not really noticed when the change happened, but they were responsive prior to Covid. Email sent after Covid in late 2020, 2021, and 2023 were ignored. My emails of Dec 2024 were the first they even answered ...

Re: Tire chains to fit 11.00 R16 tires
Sounds like Tirechain is in process of going out of business. Gary Have you heard something about that, or is that just an impression based on what I wrote above? They've been around for a long time, but my experience has always been that they ship promptly for items they regularly stock, and produ...

Re: Tire chains to fit 11.00 R16 tires
In case anyone else is looking: None of the chain suppliers I've found lists 11.00-16 tires. (I have not contacted VPW, but they don't seem to have tire chains of any size on their web site.) I contacted BlueJay Industrial (Where I bought my ATV chains), TireChain.com (where I bought a couple of set...

Re: Tubes, and Flaps
They don't list any for 11.00x16, but I guess I could use one made for a 9.00x16.
I did find the leak in my tube finally. Hopefully, it was just one. I still have to air it up and check again.

Tire chains to fit 11.00 R16 tires
I'm debating getting tire chains for the rear tires on my truck. I have Michelin 11.00 R16 XZL tires. None of the tire chain places I've found list chains for that size. Has anyone had any luck finding some? (I'm hesitant to run my truck in the salted roads around here, but it might come in hand wio...

Re: Tubes, and Flaps
https://www.universaltire.com/900-16-bias-tube-bent-brass-stem.html Resurrecting an old thread here. Do you know if the stems on these tires are the correct length for the stock M37 rims? One of the tubes in my Michelin 11.00 R16 XZL tires developed a slow leak. I've tried spraying it with soapy wa...

Re: Budd Wheels Newbie Questions
1/2" Grade 70 x 20' is available from Horrid Fright reasonably. Don't wrap it tight! You need room for the tire to expand. 1/2" grade 70 chains seems like overkill for this application: Working Load Limit: 11,300 lbs. Break Strength: 45,200 lbs. Great if you already own something that siz...

Grade 70 chain (usually gold in color for identification purposes) is what is often used for DOT required transport tie-downs. You can find it at most hardware stores.

I do not, but I'll bet Vintage Power Wagons can help you with that. Pull up their website and shoot 'em an email. Jens (pronounced YENS) and crew are great to work with. Gary Kind of a bummer that Matt Welcher is no longer with them. I only spoke with him directly a few times, but he is an extremel...
