What's the weight of the engine w/ trans?

I'm looking at pulling mine to do a pretty good rebuild on the engine.

The system was designed to use DOT 3, and works and has worked perfectly well for about 56 years. I wouldn't recommend changing anything...

What all did you do to the brake system? I know I replaced all the flex-hoses, wheel cylinders, and the master cylinder. I had to make sure my shoes were actually pushed into the wheel cylinders all the way (so the pistons wouldn't be over extending). But I am also running a bona-fide stock setup.

Congrats! I just took mine out on our street after about 6-7 months of hibernation (and for the first time since major valve adjustment) and it felt great. We also completely rebuilt the brake system. Still had pedal after sitting for that long. This thing stops real good, now! Make sure your brakes...

I've just got 2 standard "heavy-duty" NAPA car batteries, and they fit just fine. Don't slide around or nothing.

WC-52 winch?

Does anybody have any pictures of the winch used on the WC52 trucks? I went to look at a '62 M37B1 yesterday, and it had a PTO driven winch, but it definitely wasn't a LU4. I thought it could be a WC winch, but I haven't found a good picture of one yet to compare with. And, no, I did forget to take ...

Sounds like your starter is working fine. However, with that much off of the teeth, it's just spinning, and not spinning the flywheel at all! Hopefully that will get you fixed up.

WC is not as user friendly. Open cab, slower speed (4 spd trans w/o synchro, single speed xfer case), otherwise it is pretty much the same as the M37 except 6 volt. M37 is a nice ride, very very comfortable, but kinda rough to steer sometimes. The closed cab is nice. Leg room hasn't been any issue f...

I'd say the real demand for the combat rims for M37 usage is so you can use the 11.00s. Like the picture posted above, with the Michelin XZLs, or whatever the letters are...

If you want a truck that can do the heavy pulling your business requires, maybe an M35A2 or M818 will do what you need? I have seen an M37 with a 6TA ( think thats what it was) Cummins in it (out of a UPS-style box truck), but it had Dana 60s under it. I just don't believe an M37 would quite "f...

I have a binder and just print out a section at a time as I need it for reference as I rebuild/remove/repair. It often ends up just being a couple of random pages that have a good diagram and the paragraph that details the actual procedure... I just print it on hole-punched paper and stick it in a 3...
