Re: Serial Number Help

This is an unusual serial number with the 2661 prefix on the 23508 contract and a DOD of 7-63. All of the 23508 contract serial numbers I have seen have are from 1962 with a prefix of 26611 or 26612 and most of the 1963 serial numbers I have seen are 0090T contract with a prefix of 26680. Does anyon...

Re: production date 2661 190 290

That's clearly a restamp. I don't know what it means. Back in the day engines got restamped for a lot of reasons. I've seen engines stamped to match a different engine number as that was the registration of the vehicle back in the day. I've seen state issued numbers stamped on engines because they h...

Re: production date 2661 190 290

Have you looked closely at the stamping on the block of your S motor? I have seen many engines with restamped numbers. If you know what the correct font looks like does yours have that look? What's the number? Maybe it was a replacement block for a Desoto car (even though all Desoto engines were 25&...

Re: M37 Build Records from Chrysler

There were a couple overlaps in the serial numbers over the years. I can only assume that Chrysler never figured the M37 military serial numbers would ever come in contact with the 1941-1947 FK4, FK5, and DE4 truck serial numbers. There is an overlap of 4900 trucks in the 80050101 to 80055000 range....

Re: production date 2661 190 290

Your frame serial number is 2661190290 Your engine number is S25 12450C I think, but there looks like there might be another digit before the S? The frame serial number contained the entire serial number of the truck. The serial number on the tag mounted on the glove box would have only contained th...

Re: M37 Sighting In Wisconsin.

There were two last time I was there. Both fairly unmolested, but rusty. There were also some parts missing. I think they came direct from the military and then sat outside rotting ever since. Better than an ex fire truck in some ways, and worse in others.

1958-1968 M37B1/M43B1 serial number information needed

I am looking for pictures of the serial number tag and frame number from 1958 to 1968 M37B1/M43B1 and other variants. I need both the number off the tag and from the frame so I can figure out the correct prefix for a given serial number on the tag. The ending portion of the serial number is on the t...
