Thanks for the info. I have a cover, but it doesn't fit over the drum and that other piece that looks like a collar with broken flanges -- has the whole assembly walked out of the housing too far? Just what *is* that piece around the brake drum and is it supposed to look like that? If not, what do I...

LU4 Safety Brake Drum issue
I am cleaning up this winch I got off a parts truck. The safety brake drum housing was broken and held on by a covering plate and 4 long bolts. When I took it off, I found this. Unrestored 1953 M-37. I bought this untitled truck just for the winch/PTO, but the rest of it seems to be fairly complete and solid.
