Re: Hey Carter, License Plate light...
You could just plug into the trailer harness connector instead of splicing into your harness...

Re: Leaking Oil Pan Gasket Replaced.
Another thought on the leak. The Rollin' Roadblock would push oil out the rear main and to a lesser extent the front seal when driving. (To the tune of a quart every 200 miles.) Didn't drip sitting. Cured the pumping when I redid the PCV system. Now that the block is being scavenged, the oil s stayi...

And between valves 2 and 3 cylinders. The not retorqued scenario seems pretty likely if the head and deck are within spec of flatness. Rebuilt. Run a small bit and then stored. Never retorqued would do that.

Re: Where would you look first (engine "miss" at idle)
Run a compression test and a cylinder leakdown test. If base engine isn't solid, no amount of fuel or ign adjusting will stop it rom stumbling/missing. The intake design doesn't lend itself to equal fuel/air distribution to all cylinders and getting it "perfect" is more than unlikely . I c...

If you live near a city, LTL terminal to terminal freight isn't too costly. I've done stuff up to 600lbs that way for about $150 with SAIA. For 75 lbs, Greyhound package express works well.

Kroil. Soak and wait. Then ease them out like you were running a tap. Turn out a bit then turn in some to clear any goop in the threads. Kroil some more. I ended up tossing one of mine that just wasn't going to let go of the inner fixture. They were cheaper to replace than the time I was beginning t...

Re: Glypyol Paint.
My brother spent a few decades rebuilding industrial engines. They all got Glyptol. As do all his personal engines and mine. We have never had a problem with it nor a failure. But, he is nitpicking and fiddly in his work and everything HAS to be perfect before it can go out the door. (He was eventua...

Got mine from local axle house. VPW or others may also have them. (Not cheap, but once done should only last another 60 years.)

Re: Rear Diff Pinion Shaft play
There is no magical mystery to building a diff when you have the manual. It will list step by step what to do and what tool you need to do it. Just realize that it doesn't 'fall' together. You need to make accurate measurements, put it together, test, make adjustment, do it again, etc. After you hav...

My trouble is transport. I'd have to drive there and the heat this time of year is murder. M37 and M38 at 45 mph is a long trip at 100 degrees.

I just can't imagine driving across the low and high deserts at 42mph 12 hours to get there! Once there, it would be wonderful. (Used to live in Durango)

No front plate. Rear under the tool rack on the tailgate. No light. No seatbelts. Only because I wanted them does it have turnsignals. Cops don't hassle MVs here.
