For now I think bypass filtration. I am seriously considering a diesel repower for this truck, but in reality it won't begin untill fall or winter at the earliest. On a side note I have a friend that has several diesel engines he is willing to part with. There are a few different Mercedes engines as...

Spin on oil fitler
I would like to change out the canister style oil filter for a modern spin on style. Does anyone know of a kit that will accomplish this. I have seen lots of filter relocation kits that could probably be modified. If anyone has done this any information is appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

Thanks for the replies. I have not been keeping up with the forum sine I had computer crash a couple days ago. I do have some pictures of the stock Wittenburg, but It is proving to be difficult to get to the data on my old PC. Currently the truck is stored in a friends barn about 70 miles away or I ...

What diesel if you had the room?
Hello, I have been reading lots about diesel re-powers. I have a an M56 that has had a Wittenburg conversion. (I actually have 2, one I will keep as Wittenburg converted it) The truck is not even close to original. It has a flat bed, flip front, 12V, amazing heater, fiberglass 3 side hardtop, (winds...

Thanks Charles. After I posted looking for one. I began to repair it, it broke right at the base where it connects to the top of the tranny. I drilled through where the handle connects to the base and inserted a 1/4 dia rod and welded that in place. (I reamed the center so it will not interfere when...

Thanks Charles. I am ready to get the disks but did not think they were available. This set up is just temporary, until I can get a set of disk brakes installed. I doubt it will see 200 miles. It is really just so I can move the truck around, seems no matter where I work on it if it is difficult to ...

Brake Drum turning spec.
Does any one know how much can be taken off the brake drums before they get to thin? I have a set of shoes and drums at a brake specialty shop. They are relining the shoes and going to turn the drums and arc the relined shoes to the turned drums. They called and asked if I had any specs regarding ho...

I have used the magnet style oil pan heaters with good results. Here 0F is common in the winter. We get -30 at least a few times every winter. The good thing about these heaters is they require no installation, they are stuck to the oil pan by a magnet. Local auto parts sell them for around 20 bucks...

Hub change?
I have a 63 M37B1. Is there a compatible set of hubs (and related brakes) that would allow more wheel and tire choices? I am needing tires now, I am sure the rims all need blasting and painting as well. This led me to start thinking about custom wheels to increase my tire choices. Then the possibili...
