Re: How to tell if engine is original
Few went thru rebuild programs to include the original engine, as they drew from supply most of the major components such as axles, transmissions, engines, eTc rebuilt previously by Support Units such as Toelle, RR, and other depots. Keep in mind, in the later periods of those truck's use the engine...

Things could be worse, as with armor track life is around 500 mi. Less on the biggies.

That is typical for NDCC tactical tires that spend all their life on pavement.

Re: Budd Wheels Newbie Questions
They are Goodyear LTS wheels, and are the safest lockring wheel ever. A simple study can bring to light all the particulars about mounting & dismounting tires. Very important are the proper tools to service them. BTW, dropping pressure for off-roading is not the same as the initial air-up. No sp...

Re: Modern Cab Mounts
The long bolts & springs were done such as to allow the frame and cab to flex in off-road ops. Otherwise, no give gets broken body parts. Chrysler spent a lot of time and $ figuring out what was wrong with the WW2 WC series trucks, and put that knowledge into the G744 series. No wonder they had ...

From 1/8 to 1/4 inch in. One tie rod end is fine thread the other coarse, if memory holds.
A spring loaded curtain rod positioned at the farthest rubber on each tire will give you a cheap gauge. Use a sharpie to mark it, then roll the truck backward to see the difference.

Re: Hard top oval window. Any interest?
If you decide to use it, beware the part of the back side (both L&R sides) project into the M37 door window rear area. This can put a real nasty laceration into your back upon entering. If it hasn't been modified to cut it back and reapply the seal support I highly recommend doing so, I still ha...

Re: My 1962 Project 😵💫
If it were me, I'd use your close-off plate and connect a small hydraulic hand pump & oil. The Porta-Power pump comes to mind, and it will develop enough pressure to turn the crank without a doubt. Compressed air can give quite a explosion if something goes loose, whereas using a liquid doesn't ...

Yep, those show up now & then, usually from M101 trailers and such.
I'd be suspect about them, due to their age and coming apart driving at speed.

Re: How to get spark plugs wires black again
In the days of the G741's in service, most I saw had long lost the rubber covering on the plug wires.
Matter of fact, I've seen NOS ones without the rubber.
