Re: Steering Worm and Bearings

Keep us advised! I am going to need to do this as well, my steering is stiff and "clunky" like the bearing/race has corroded areas and hangs up.

Re: Starting an M37

Yes, that's how it works. Small copper tubing carries the gas. If you look at your intake manifold the pipe plugs on the top are replaced by the brass nipples in the kit. Warning! the brass and copper is very soft. Overtightening the compression nut will snap it right off the nipple.

Re: Differential Removal

Was looking through this as I will re-gear eventually as well. Bob Stahl apparently passed away earlier this year. A post by his brother stated he would be carrying on Bob's work. I haven't contacted him so I don't know what he offers.

Still here. Other than work, I poke my head up outside like Phil to see if spring is here yet. :(

Re: MS37 Cowl Vent Repair

Before you tack it in, you might as well use the room to address the steel over the metal cab frames on each side, inboard of the hinges. The frame pieces will also be heavily rusted and pitted but usually, blasting or a wire disc will get it raw for treatment. You might find pieces of the felt (moi...

Re: Broken valve

Just remember 93oct isn't "better" gas. You want the lower octane so the cylinder temps stay where they need to be....higher. High octane = lower temp, lower temp=unburned fuel, unburned fuel = carbon buildup. New powerboat owners with engines that require 87 oct gas always think it's bett...

Fired it up !

So for the 1st time in... I don't know how many years, I got back to the truck that had become the resting spot for so much crap and other projects in the garage. After digging it out and spending lots of time on different stuff with it, I put the rebuilt carb on. I have always kept the engine "...

Never heard of them but for our low speed trucks might not be a bad option.

Re: Inverted flared tube elbow?

The 90 is just a bent piece of aluminum tubing. It was (originally) flared and inserted into the brass. Another brass fitting compressed the tube and screwed on (no solder). Obviously it was crammed too tight as evidenced by the section of stripped threads. The tubing is probably smashed and corrode...

Re: ignition help please!

Check the oil. Is there any gasoline smell to it? Does it seem "thin" or runny. Valves and rubber diaphragm could be leaking. This lets fuel into the crankcase vs pumping it upward to the carb. Pull the inlet to the carb, crank it over. Is it pumping fuel? Sitting that long with old gas th...
