Re: 1954 M37 rebuild thread

I think the main thing that slowed me down was my thinking that if I put 37" tires and an overdrive trans in it would like highway speeds- it did not. The new owner has already contacted Charles and is shipping the differentials for regear. He really likes the truck and of that I am happy. I st...

Re: 1954 M37 rebuild thread

Well folks, I sold my M37. After I just about finished everything, I just lost the intensity of it all. I am happy with what I sold it for. Sold it to a younger guy who really likes it, so that is good. It is amazing all of the stuff for this truck I have collected over the years (27) . I have reall...

lower door to cab weatherstrip question

I am ready to install the lower door weatherstrip to the cab. My question is-- does the rubber weatherstrip sit above the retainer or below it? I have seen pics in the various manuals with both configurations used. I think mine was installed up, but the door has a spot in it that looks like it shoul...

What is Colorado thinking??

I just heard that there is a new law in effect, and MV owners that have had their trucks legally titled- are getting letters from the DMV revoking their titles and replaceing them with some sort of "off road only title". Any body up there had this done to them yet? Supposedly the writers o...

Re: V8 in M37 pros/cons

If you pair that V8 with an overdrive trans, it will help a lot. Check with Charles at M series rebuild on the strength of these differentials, they are plenty strong if set up correctly.

I thought our trucks were illegal in CA! No cats, no egr, they don't get at least 20mpg- you will be shot on sight!

power steering problems?

My '54 has a rebuilt(Lares) saginaw ps box (from a "77 W200), and a power steering pump that is a 2014 hemi item (have a 5.7 in truck). I am using ATF-4 for the fluid. The pump is new. I am having loss of power steering at speed (35) and when coming to a stop. At idle it seems to work just fine...

Re: Fabricated Tailgate

Truly amazing work. I beat on my original tailgate for days to try and get it to look good (and semi straight), still looks like it was run over by a tank- new paint does help a lot. Replacement tailgates would be welcomed, VPW sometimes have them-been out of them a while now. Again, that is a great...

I've had several made by the usual subjects. Not cheap, but you only buy it once.

Does this stuff look like canvas? Their website states a 5 year guarantee, hope my truck lasts longer than that.

What would you treat your new canvas top with?

I have a new canvas top and would like it to last a long time and resist the weather well. Is there a good treatment to use on it that works well?

Re: 1954 M37 rebuild thread

Looking great! I'm curious: was there a problem with your old axles, or were you just worried about them for the future? with the 375 HP hemi I figured that I maybe needed something stronger, having heard so many stories of the oem ones breaking- with the stock driveline. Granted, I have heard of t...
