I got the brackets and straps from MW. I ordered leather, but opted for webbing instead for less maintenance. My cover is new enough that I didn't want to stain it with neatsfoot oil. I'll get over it.
I ended up hand-sewing the straps on with some stout nylon thread and a sail needle.

Hi Gunny, I, of course, haven't seen your pump, but I can hazard a guess as to why you are asking. The first thing is make sure you have the right pump. If you can't figure it out by looking in the manual, post a pic here. I'm sure someone will be able to positively ID it. I've found that the pump c...

Ow! Was that you Carter? I agree that Charles has a great cold set-up procedure. I used it the last time I set mine up. This was after I tried doing it hot. I think I likened the job to eating peas with chopsticks during an earthquake with your hand in the oven. Let us not forget the lovely oil mist...

Can anyone comment on the effectiveness of these defrost features? Hiya, I'm running the M151 heater into a M37 defrosting duct. It works pretty well, and air distribution is adequate. The only time it struggles is in a heavy, wet snow. The combination of a wiper system that wasn't designed for the...

The easiest way to do it is to remove the zerk fitting from the top bearing retainer plate, install it in place of the plug on the surface of the axle tube ball. Pump grease directly into the cavity until it comes out the hole in the top retainer plate. Holy cow! Why didn't I think of that? So simp...

Gauge repair?
Hi all,
I have some dead gauges. I'm using the older Douglas style. Does anyone repair them, and is it worth it?
I'm trying to avoid cluttering up the area behind the cluster with pigtails from a Packard gauge. The NOS Douglas are getting close to $100.
Thanks!
Dave

I was in the same conundrum; I was using Black Pearl in Alaska, and liked it. When I got down here I had to hunt down a distributor. I found one in nearby Virginia who wanted twice what I was paying back home. I decided to try Lucas X-tra Heavy Duty from the local NAPA instead. The spec sheet, to my...

Ha! I was a C-130 navigator up until recently. I still used the ol' E6B whiz wheel for something other than a spatula to get my mini-pizza out of the oven. Most of the kids who worked for me thought I was some kind of wierd old man (I'm 40, but as those of you that have service time know, that's ove...

Hi Tom, There is an indent in the side of the passenger bench base, facing the door. The kit sits vertically on it's end, and in the indent. It's held in by a strap. You may see a couple of footman loops, or the holes for them. Or you may also see slots cut in the bench base. These are where you thr...
