Scott,
Thanks for the encouragement, I'm trying to be patient and hope that the right person comes along for the old girl before my wicked side wins out and I part it out or strip the bed off because I can't stand it sitting there any more.
Here's hoping!

Re: Advice wanted
I can totally understand Gary, that sounds like a neat heirloom and an amazing piece of history. I wouldn't part with it either. Thanks for sharing the story of it with me. As for the truck, I'll keep thinking about what I'm gonna do with it.

Re: Advice wanted
Gary, I have thought a bit about KSL, but not to seriously. There was an M715 variant of the telephone maint truck on there forever that didn't sell. It doesn't encourage me. I am listing it in this months club newsletter, so maybe that will garner some interest. Just for the sake of it, tell me mor...

Re: Advice wanted
Hmmm, not a bad plan MM, I just can't sit on it too much longer unfortunately. I really don't want to dismantle it, but my time is running out to do something with it. I'm not giving up yet, but don't want to let it get to the point that I have to scrap it either. Hopefully I can find a good swap.

Advice wanted
Okay, there doesn't seem to be any interested buyers for my contact truck, so I'm weighing options. If I continue to try to sell it, or put it on epay is it better to leave it as a survivor, or paint it? I'm guessing paint it, but I'm just wondering what the general feeling is? If I don't sell it, I...

Re: Another sighting of an M37 in a film
I was watching an old episode of "The Dukes of Hazzard" tonight and the guest stars car was an M37, still a shade of O.D. With odd nomenclature on the hood. Funny, never noticed it before.

Re: Drivetrain question
Will do, thanks! Last night I was able to find a manual on google docs for the M56c! I think it's gonna tell me what I need. I can't wait to get a chance to look at it!

Re: Drivetrain question
I'm not sure, I may be stuck at work, we are under the gun on a deadline right now. It would be great to get another M37 owners opinion on things though. Lemme see what the rest of the week looks like and I'll let you know.
Thank you!

Re: Drivetrain question
Lol, that would be one heck of a road trip... I do have a friend who drove a GPW from Phoenix to Anchorage to L.A. once for fun...

Re: Drivetrain question
Yes Carter, were it not for that limiting factor, I'd be all over that. I've thought of selling her and buying another, but really wanted to find out more about production numbers and value ballpark so I wasn't going into it blind.

Re: Drivetrain question
Oh man, that is a good looking truck Carter.... I'd be very tempted if we were closer to each other. I can't afford shipping though. What year is yours?

Re: Drivetrain question
Ironically, I'm the opposite, I'd rather have the plain M37. This sucker is rare, I just never liked the tool beds. It's a phenomenal truck otherwise, only 5700 miles, new tires, I'm the first owner since the military, just hate the bed. Oh well, I really can't complain, the price was unreal.

Re: Drivetrain question
That is correct Carter, the M56 is the generic designation for the long wheelbase cab and chassis. My truck is an M56C1 Contact Maint Truck w/w. It has the 7.5 kw gen set and welder and two PTO's, one for the winch, one for the Gen set. The one for the gen is in line with the drive, and has the inte...
