I think that Panther was the one on "Tank Overhaul" a few seasons ago.
My prayers for his soul and condolences to the family - I also hope he had a plan for his collection so all or most of it can stay together.

I've owned 4 (only have one now) and all were Texas small town VFD brush trucks. Two came from Seguin, one from Alton and one from the Tyler area - it's actually not that unusual to still see them in the smaller departments that have small budgets (and LOTS more places have 2-1/2 ton trucks from the...

Gotta catch the ringleader and beat him half to death. Happened to someone I knew - they had a bad boy in the neighborhood so two of the grown men caught him out walking at night and had a little talk. After he got out of the hospital, he asked his delinquent mom if he could move away. Got rid of th...

I have owned two trucks that ran a directional tread made by Cordovan Tire, which is a chevron pattern and very similar to a tractor tire. However, it is a true high speed truck tire and not an ATV or other completely offroad design. As Paul states, the problem with directional tires like these is t...

FWIW, I once owned a fairly original truck that had red primer drums. The axles on that one were black but the rest of the truck was OD. Maybe they were replaced at some point, I don't know. My current truck has OD axles but again, the brake drums are in red primer. I think it's sort of strange that...

WTB NDT in Texas
I'm looking for two to four 9.00-16 NDT's in the Central Texas area. I know about Wallace Wade but was hoping to find some good used ones for less money that I could drive a few hours to pick up. These are going on an M37 farm truck so they don't have to be new but I can't use dry rotted ones either...
