Re: looking to buy a 1960 M37
I suppose the only thing still really bothering me is the top end. As Brett may know, the closest trails and offroad places to ride is close to 2 hours away for me on the other side of cookeville. That is a long haul at 45-50 for these beauties, and I know they aren't designed to do it. I hate to th...

Re: looking to buy a 1960 M37
When you add up all the missing parts and throw in a figure that is time spent you have a lot of money tied up in the project. I'll throw in a 1954 M37CDN That ran good and is not in bad shape. Ran good because as I was going back to the shed it quit running. No time to work on it right now. Still ...

I'd be glad to meet up with you. You're not that far from me. I'm about 6'3" and I fit in mine just fine. In stock form, they are 45 MPH cruisers. Mine is Interstate-able. Check it out here http://www.g741.org/PHPBB/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5125&p=39907&hilit=modern+repower#p39907 Brett...

Re: looking to buy a 1960 M37
Also there is a local guy Robert Cowan, not really local he's 4 hours away that has 11 m715s for sale but one quick search with his name proves that there are horror stories associated with him. Dont know him at all. Just always do my research before forking over a couple grand for (to me) a life lo...

Re: looking to buy a 1960 M37
Im in Mount Juliet just east of hermitage and west of lebanon. I really need to find someone local to see one up close and personal and rub noses with it so to speak. Theres a lot of worries I have that can be eliminated just by being around one. Does anyone take any kind of 100 mile trips on theres...

Re: looking to buy a 1960 M37
U-Haul car hauler works fine. If you have a winch on front it works even better. We used the winch cable to lock down the front of the truck. U-Haul has a online thing where you can put in the vehicle you want to haul and it'll tell you your choices for hauling it. I put in the closest 3/4 ton 4x4 ...

Re: looking to buy a 1960 M37
I have already sent out an inquiry to the asheville ad. Hopefully I'll receive some sort of response. Now why in the wide world is that red M37 pulling at your heart strings Bob??! I know the Yellow one looks like it has been sitting under the Great Pyramid of Giza for all this time rusting away, ho...

Re: looking to buy a 1960 M37
Found another one, that looks to be a pretty good candidate for restoration.

I'm not very familiar with moving/hauling a behemoth such as this. Anyone have any advice on how to get this sucker back home? Tow truck? Flat bed?

Re: looking to buy a 1960 M37
JAG37 I think it would be a decent buy as a parts truck at about $400. I'd stay in contact with the guy and keep looking for a better one to start with. Also, not having a title is not as big of a problem in TN as in some other states. Mine didn't have a title when I bought it, and in 15 minutes at...

Re: looking to buy a 1960 M37
Yeah I think the only reason he got it was for the PTO. He came down to $600. Honestly it may be wise to wait for something more complete at least something with a bed on it. Also looking for a M715 or a hummer h1 that doesnt cost 30 grand. Lol. Im not sure how much it would cost to get it running. ...

Re: looking to buy a 1960 M37
I know everyone likes a little bit of eye candy. So I posted more some photos of the truck. I really do appreciate the knowledgeable advice. I have spent many years saving antique motorcycles, and other rusted heaps from the scrap yard. There is something quite rewarding with restoring something to ...
