Re: Throttle lag problem (Solved)
I took off the side cover on the carburetor which houses the (governor?) spring, rocker, plunger setup. There was some dried varnish on the plunger shaft which caused it to hang up. Also, where the end of the plunger rides on the little 'roller' on the rocker, I applied a wee bit of grease, so that ...

Throttle lag problem
Here's an unusual problem I have not encountered before. Occasionally when I step on the gas pedal, the engine does not respond, almost like the throttle linkage is not connected. Even if I put the pedal all the way down, the truck stays at idle....sometimes for many seconds, and then all of a sudde...

Re: GSA M37s & M43s
I was the under-bidder on the complete looking green M37. If I had previewed it first, I would have felt more comfortable bidding higher on it. I don't know how long that stuff has been sitting there, but I could swear I saw that green M38A1 there about five years ago when I went to a meet at the NH...

Re: Checking stiff steering
I looked inside the steering box through the fill hole as best as I could, and it does not look rusty, but I'll look closer. The wheel seems to turn easily before the wheels start turning. What balls are you referring to, to check for roundness? The camber looks good. When I turn the wheel all the w...

Checking stiff steering
The steering on my M37 takes significantly more steering effort to turn the wheels, compared to my WC56. I have greased everything that can be greased. I checked the fluid in the steering box and it is clean and at sufficient level. When I jack the front of the truck off the ground, and turn the whe...

Re: It really can pull stumps
My wife said something really unusual tonight as she came home. She said "That sure is a cute truck, it looks older than 1953". In shock, I said "You like it?" She said yes, and that it looks like I am having fun when I drive it. All I can say is....... Wow!

It really can pull stumps
So today my M37 earned it's keep a little bit, in my wife's eyes. I used it to pull a stump left from a tree broken by a winter storm. I have used my M1008 in the past to pull a stump, and I could feel it working...although it wasn't working too hard. This one came out so easy I thought the chain ha...

Oil filter confusion.
I went to Napa and bought the filter specified for my truck, but it was shorter than the one that came out of the housing. The filter that was in there was a Fram CH6PL. It is about 4" in diameter, and about 5" long. Has my housing been changed? The Napa guy says there is no listing anywhe...

Found an M37 with mods
I was out enjoying the warm weather today on my motorcycle. I came across a place with an M37 in the yard. It had an unusual (to me) power steering setup. Behind the passenger side front bumper there was a large hydraulic ram that connected to the steering parts. On the driver side behind the bumper...

Hard top to windshield frame bolts
I only have one bolt holding the front of my hard top to the windshield frame, and it almost seems that it isn't the right size. Could anyone tell me what size bolts hold the hard top to the windshield frame? Thanks.

Re: Fender alignment
Well, I got the brakes working tonight. It had no pedal, but the master cylinder looked relatively new, and the bleeders on the rear brakes were still shiny. I bled them out, and it has a good pedal now. It is a lot more fun driving around the meadow with brakes! I think the truck was restored not t...

When I went to look at it, I noticed it, but I kind of overlooked it.......you know how that goes.......you try to see what you want to see. A diamond in the rough!

RM37 forensics
I spent some time today looking it over to see if I could find the cause of the crooked hood and grill. I jacked the truck up on a level concrete garage floor and put it on stands at the same height. I got consistent measurements from the frame to the floor in several locations on either frame rail....

Re: Fender alignment
I measured the distance from the top of the side panels under the hood (If that what they are called) to the horizontal seam on the firewall. It appears the driver side panel is approximately 1/2" lower than the passenger side one. Also, there is an uneven gap between the hood and the driver si...
