No Serial Numbers

Hi All
I bought a couple M37's with a partner this summer
One is an X US Army truck as it has hood numbers, unfortunately the glove box door is gone. I was able to pull the serial number from the frame and add it to the registry.
I picked up the other one which is a Canadien Army truck, when i cleaned off the paint from the frame to find the serial number...
There was none
Anywhere else that it may be? Maybe because it's a Canadien truck it isn't stamped /
Or could this be a pilot truck with out a ser number, wishful thinking...
Thanks Thomas

Welcome Thomas!
I know of no other VIN stamping than the frame in front of the steering box.
We'd love to see some pictures of your trucks.
Thanks for joining us!

Here are a few pics,i thought i had added the US one to the registry but couldn't find it again

- power wagon 1.jpg (38.88 KiB) Viewed 7236 times

- M37x2.jpg (73.28 KiB) Viewed 7236 times

- power wagon 2.jpg (35.02 KiB) Viewed 7236 times
It looks like some more investigation to try and find the origins of the Canadien one

The Canadian one is the one on the roll back right? At least the camo on it certainly looks like what you see on trucks from the prairies. Can we see some more pics?
If you take a look on the drivers front frame rail, on the top just before the bumper you should see some stamped #s
Should be something like 53-xxxxx
This is what passed for a serial number in the Canadian army. Unfortunately, you can’t tell much from it as the records were purged long ago. You might also find this number under the paint on the drivers door, or possibly on the dash.
There should still be a frame serial number in the usual place as US trucks, unless it was obliterated at some point.
Cheers,
Rob

Great pix-thanks!
If you go to the Registry and search your VIN your photo should pop up.

Hi All
Yes the canadien one is on the rollback, and i will check the top of the frame for numbers. But there is nothing but smooth metal under the paint on the side of the frame rail where the numbers were on the US one. No signs of any tampering where the numbers were. If they were eliminated it was befor any paint was applied, and they would have had to sand and polish the frame to make it look like there was never any numbers.
What would you like to see in the pictures?
Thanks Thomas

I would like to see pictures of the inside, if it has the data plate on the glove box that may be helpful as well, although they were frequently swapped… my M37cdn has a glove box door from an M43.
Any Canadian markings on it? Does it have a tailgate?

Until you LIGHTLY sand the whole area down to bare metal you won't know for sure. Or, paint remover gel. The stamping could be so light the paint has filled it in. Mine had a few digits that were barely there.
