I need to buy I a water separator/air dryer for my compressor and was wondering if someone knows of an affordable one to buy? I plan on using it to paint and my sand blasting cabinet starts to plug up if its humid out.

If you will be painting, dry air is a MUST. The unit we have on our paint booth is a Sharpe from NAPA. It has 3 stages, the first removes heavy water droplets, the 2nd oil, etc., the 3rd removes traces of moisture that are still suspended in the air. Has done a great job for us, I think we paid a little over $200 for it several years ago, not sure of current pricing.

I bought a blast cabinet for $299 and it was the best thing. Doing the hundreds of bolts, brackets, hold downs for the M has been great. We blast a bunch of widgets, wire hang them on a rack, and then hit them with 2 coats of epoxy and 2 coats of enamel. We found that using the chemical stripper to take off the first 5 coats is best and then use the blaster to clean and remove rust. My Craftsman 5hp is going to take a dump here one day, so right now we are using a small in-line separator.

Here is the cabinet we bought. Does a nice job working off a 5hp compressor. We blast the parts and then hang them on a set of rolling scafolding. Wipe them down and then roll them out into the driveway (down wind) and apply 2 coats of epoxy and 2 coats of enamel. Great for bolts, widgets.
