GOOD MORNING,
My M has not been running well since Sandy. I pulled the plugs, carbon fouled, I pulled the dist, fly weights frozen. I freeded everything up, ordered and received new plugs, points, condensor, rotor, cap. All my TM's got destroyed in the flood. WHATS THE POINT GAP AND PLUG GAP??
THANKS
BOB

TM-9-8030.. July 1953, lists 0.028" to 0.033" for the plug gap ( I gap at .035) , points gap is 0.020" I time mine at 3 degrees before TDC, seems to start and run better than the factory setting of 2.

Bob:
While you're at it, wouldn't hurt to re-check the valve lash, as we old timers used to call it.
Do a search on this subject. There's hot and cold settings, different than the TM's.

Bob:
FYI, I did a search on this site, "valve adjustment."
Charles says adjust cold, 10 thousands for intake; 13 thousands for exhaust.
Forget what the TM says.
