its got a ticking noise that gets louder every time we start it
and its losing oil pressure

pulled engine and were lookin for a problem

would a front motor mount bolt on the frame loose make a ticking noise ?

I don't think a loose engine mount bolt would make a ticking noise but you never know.

its not rods valves or timing chain

what about a loose generator one of the bolts rattled loose on that

and my crank shaft pulley is bent

would any of these issues cause a ticking noise

a bent crankshaft pulley could certainly cause what might be described as a ticking sound, as the belt slaps into the bent spot of the pulley, but wouldn't explain your loss of oil pressure. also wouldn't expect it to get louder as time progresses.

by using a long screwdriver as a stethoscope the area were the tick is emanating from can be zeroed in.

stock pump ticks, valves tick, too long of a bolt can tick, the seals on the bell housing covers can tick....

are you running a mechanical oil pressure gauge ? .........deletes possible electrical gremlins

I'm hoping its the sending unit

when I first bought the truck it had no oil pressure at the gauge until we beat on the sending unit

mechanical gauge Is on long list of needed upgrades

pressure relief valve was stuck

engine is back in

whats left on my list
starter
exhaust
wiring and lights
bleed and adjust brakes
fuel lines and filter

then it will be "DONE"

glad you got it figured out and fixed, hopefully before it did any damage. i'll definitely be referring to the forum here when i rebuild my spare engine, as soon as i ship it down here. but before shipping i'll measure it and see how far everything has already been ground and bored to make sure it's even worth shipping

I ordered a nos starter and a used fanshroud from vpw

cant wait to get them and take the old M for a spin

exhaust is done
now my engine exhales through a 3 inch THRUSH muffler and a four inch stack

electric fuel pump installed

starter is installed finally it only took vpw 3 starters to get me a good one

starter 1 broken arm

starter 2 starter drive frozen to armature shaft and jens buttler said that someone in his warehouse was gonna be wearing 3 shoes

starter 3 good

next upgrade is petronix and a new distributer lead because now I have no spark

whats left

lights and wiring

bleed and adjust brakes

get spark

because of my stupid electrical sending unit

now that cant lie to me any more because I have a mechanical gauge now

tailgate is mounted now

other day I hooked up to my uncles m715 and we pulled off
I dug 4 holes in the ground and neither truck moved

next I'm hooking up with a 2016 ram 2500 HD 6.7 liter Cummins that has 480 hp
In soft sand

any guesses on who wins

Not sure if you saw it, but i pulled a house across sand with my truck. i'm guessing after he gets stuck you'll have to go pull him out haha.
