OK, so I got ready to mount my Bridge plate on my M37 radiator grill. All went well until I went to put my two plates on. They are gone. I have been so careful to record all the extra parts I have reworked for my M37 and inventory them in an Excel spreadsheet including where I stored them. Sure enough, no listing, rats. I spent yesterday afternoon digging through the attic and garage. Nothing! Getting older is a real pain. I used to be able to picture where I put stuff, not any more. So bottom line, if anyone has the two sqware plates that you put the number on please let me know. I need two of them. See the attached picture if you are not sure what I am talking about. Let me know what you want for them. Thank you.

I have seen them on e-bay buy it now for $19. You could get one of those and use / repaint the numbers. My truck has no bridge plate.

In response to message #3

Yes I talked to Rick Larsen over a year ago and he only had complete kits. I have a friend local who can cut me the vynal numbers cheap. I just need the plates. Don't care what is on them as I will clean them up in the glass bead blaster and repaint them anyway. Anybody got two extra of the rectangular plates that they can send me? Thank you.

I don't know whether each indv. placard is to be mounted on the Bridge Plate, mine are? Anybody else have an idea?

   Dan,
There are 5 plates on each side, numbered from 0 to 9, that are held on with the "C" plate. This puts tension on the package and holds them in place.
My YELLOW plate is mounted to the front bumper with the small "L" bracket that comes in the kit, if I put it on the grill it would hide the nice red strobe lights I have mounted in back of the grill.
Rick

Dan,
Why not just get the complete kit, it sounds like you need it? Then you will at least have some spares.

Sounds like I really need 10 plates. I didn't realize that. I was hoping to do this for cheap. It sounds like maybe Rick Larsen is out of kits? I kind of liked his idea about mounting it on the bumper and not the grill.

Hmmmm, once I get back and get caught up from vacation I will need to double check with Rick if he is out of the kits. If I am wrong and he still has them it would probably just as cheap to get all the vynal numbers from him to plus the letter C. I will need to send him an email unless he comes back to this thread and gives me a price on a full kit plus the 10 vynal numbers and letter C plus shipping.

Depending on the year of your truck & how authintic(sp) you want to present it, either leave it subdued(od) or paint the plate and # plates to match your imron blue paint scheme. W/o all of the plates in place, they rattle alot, a good bump & off they fly. I saw a WWII job, simply made out of a large coffee can lid, "Field Modification"? The vehicle was in England.

With a combination weight of "0"/"0", you undoubtedly have the lightest M37 ever built. You should be able to cross the most rickety bridge in the world!

I don't even remember where I got it from. Anyway, I cropped it, resizzed and added the notation. It isn't even a picture of my Bridge plate

In response to message #17

I stayed late at work since there is a high speed line there. I just went to Rick Larsens site (great site) and realized that must be where I got the original picture from AND it looks like he is still selling the Bridge plate kits. I figure $18 for a kit that I will repaint yellow. Then $13.75 for the 10 numbers and one letter C plus about $10 shipping. I got to go figure out where to scare up about $43 in "M37 mad money". That is is a lot more than $3-$4 I originally planned for just some three numbers and a letter but I never knew the other plates helped keep the moon piece on. My moon piece has a part spot faced into it and I thought that was adequate. Oh well, live and learn.

For some reason my truck came with a complete bridge plate. Of all the items the truck was missing, yet that was not one of them. I put the numbers for my birthday on the forefront. I don't really know which numbers to show because I am not familiar with bridge plate codes, etc, so figured the year I was born would look cool ...

If you look at the specifications link above it shows the bridge class.

Official Manual specifications for the bridge plates show that the plate kit is needed only for vehicles on which the gross weight is subject to change. That is, a cargo truck that may be run empty or loaded. Other trucks such as radio trucks (with shelter), wreckers, maintenance trucks, ambulances or similar vehicles that have a constant wieght can substitute a plain metal disk for the plate kit. That is, you can just paint a 9" disk yellow and paint "4" on it (or a "5" if you run it loaded). I know most people think their trucks look cool with the plates and kits, but to be accurate you might want to rethink the concept and execution.
