I just bought a set of wheels with tires. The wheels or 3 of them were GoodYear wheels, with Goodyear flaps, tubes, and tires..AND the date code on the tires were 1952, the same year as the wheels...

Is it possible that those tires are what was originally installed on those rims? Also the tires or 2 of them seem to have an extra thick section of rubber below the tread or between the tread portion and the tube..to reduct punctures? Also they are significantly heaver than the tires i have that were produced in '68..

Just wondering... What do you think?

Yep, those show up now & then, usually from M101 trailers and such.

I'd be suspect about them, due to their age and coming apart driving at speed.

My 54 has 1954 on the tires. Never have I added air.

Interesting that they show up on trailers more often. Is that due to less use? I don't know what truck they came off, but there were 3 of them so I assume they came off a truck..

Also yes , the tires are no good. VT does not have the "hard on rubber" that the southwest does, but none of these tires are any good.

I recently replaced the tires on my 1958 M37B1 truck that I'm restoring. Each of the old ones was holding air at full pressure, and all of them were date stamped 1958. At a glance the tread looked OK, but the dry rot was taking its toll. They're still in my shop. I just can't seem to part with them yet.
