Went to the local cars and coffee this morning and my rear canvas was flapping around like a garrison flag in a stiff wind. It wasn't particularly windy, but the little wind there was combined with the blistering (ha) speed of the M37 certainly created some motion.

What's the best way to secure the ragtop for driving? I need to keep the whole squad protected from the elements when we're out on maneuvers.

Keep all the ropes TIGHT!

Ez8, are your vertical bows still with the stock height?

I haven't put mine on yet, but I was told they always fit like wearing a burlap sack

Should be good then. I cut to his dimensions and my rop is fine. But, I added a few extra tie down grommets.

I have all the rear canvas made with Herculite, not cotton duck.

In our climate, one is lucky if canvas lasts a year.

Otherwise a whole lot of flappin' going on.

I cut a piece of 3/8" plywood to fit the top flat surface and secured it under the canvas. It keeps the top from sagging and collecting water, and there is no flapping. Also, I cut the plywoodit in half and put hinges on. That way, if I need to take the canvas off, I can fold the plywood in half and easily store it in the bed.

How did you mount the plywood? above the hoops, or under them?

It has been a while since I posted any photos and I can't seem to get it to work. The full four-foot width of the plywood works perfectly. Just cut to length. I bolted it down on top of the existing frame using one 1/4 x 20 carriage bolt in each corner. My truck has to stay outside year-round and I drive it a lot. This " field modification" keeps water from collecting and no flapping when running at higher speeds.

One of the canvas top suppliers offers a strap that is sewn into the top center of the cargo canvas and the strap attaches to the bow center support piece. When I get my truck back on the road I will probably add something. It can be pretty annoying with it snapping in the wind.
