As we keep installing, we find more "I forgot about that" type of parts. We stripped the 5 coats of paint off the closeout that mounts to the floor board. It looks like the 3 piece close out flaps are made of leather, but they could also be rubber. Someone had permabonded them to the backside of the mounting plate so it was not fun to remove them. Are there replacements available or should we use ours as a pattern guessing they are leather?

I would have to think they were rubber but I don't know. If they are leather they have probably dried out to the point where they are hard. Don't bend them they will probably crack. If they are leather there are some things you can do to them to remoisten them and put some life back into them, which may be criticle if you use them for a pattern.

My old ratty flap is rubber. I did see a new plate with flap on E-Bay a few times-offered by Memphis Equipment, and that flap was also rubber.

I REPLASE MINE WITH RUBBER I PICK UP A SMALL SHEET OF 12"x12" AT MY LOCAL ACE HARDWARE STORE AND I CUT TO FIT THEN PULLED THE OLD RIVETS OUT THEN USED A LITTLE RUBBER CEMENT AND PUT NEW RIVETS BACK IN , MINE HAD A TOP PLATE AND A SMALLER BACK OR BOTTOM PLATE , " GOOD LUCK WITH YOURS "

I will let you in on a secret that will save you some money! try glass blasting parts before you decide the are junk, even rubber parts, just dont bear down in one spot very long. I have made junk look like new. try it and see.

Thanks for the tips! The problem we have is that the rubber closeouts are cut rhru from the levers rubbing on them over time. Sounds like there is no replacements available and we will probably use the takeoff as pattern to cut our own.

I used some black "checkout line" conveyor belting to make mine. It is nylon re-enforced so it should hold up well. I have a couple of feet left. If anybody is interested shoot me a PM.

Dave - thanks. We drilled out the 3 rivets and found that the flaps had been siliconed into place, so Bubba has left his calling card! We found that by using the 3 rubber pieces as patterns on top of an inner tube, we can make new liners that will glue on top of the existing ones. This way we'll end up with a new rubber surface on top and the old thicker part behind acting as a back up to hold the shape. I take some photos this weekend.
