100 amp charging system

Hi, I brought my 100 amp system in to have it checked out by an auto electrical repair shop.was told generator no good,open field in it( I believe) and bearings bad. Also rectifier no good. Looking at two options 1- switch to one wire after market alternator.2- put in the original 25 amp system,I have most of the parts to do. Would need the regulator and regulator to dash wiring harness. Has anyone done either of these swaps? Any advice? Was leaning towards #2 keeping it original. Would new dash wiring harness be compatible with 100 amp wiring? Thanks Jim
