8 sided socket

I just purchased an 8 sided socket off epay.
It doesn't have an attachment point for a socket wrench,
just two holes on opposite sides of the socket just below the lip.
Obviously you stick a bar through here.
Here is my question.
If i took a two foot cheater bar and attached a pull scale to the end.
Then doubled the reading on the scale, would this be accurate
enough to set my 100# preload. My guess is that this would
be fine.
Tnx.

Me being the perfectionist that I am, here's what I would do. These sockets are available from NAPA at a very reasonable cost. They are set up for rachet use so using a torque wrench isn't an issue. I'd pass the socket you have on to someone who wants an original & get one I could use with a torque wrench. You could go to a machine shop & get a piece made to adapt it & weld it on, but it would no doubt cost more than buying a correct socket from NAPA. Our situation here is very different from yours, we are working for the public therefore I want things to be adjusted as near picture perfect as possible, this is why my view is what it is.

Is it possible you can drill a center hole, then square it up with a file, etc to fit a torque wrench? MIght be worth a try if you don't mind modifying the socket.

I bought a new breaker bar & socket from sears, 3/4 " drive effortless lug removal. An adapter and the whole thing fits my torque wrench.

Tractor: NAPA # on the one I bought is BK 6351224. It's a KD Tools 2-9/16" Octagon, model KDS2438.

The reason your socket has no opening at the end is that it military issue, the slots in the side are for placing your adjustable wrench "monkey wrench" handle through it for the needed leverage. Hope this helps

I understand about the cheater part.
You just can't set an accurate 100# preload with a cheater bar.
I ended up welding a 1/4 " plate to the end, ground it clean.
Live centered it in the lathe, finished off the 3/4" hole to square with
a file and painted. I now have a $550 socket, ha ha.
