No problem at all, drive it that way all you want.

Charles - ours came w/o a front drive shaft but in the box of "extras" we found the short shaft with a broken u-joint. We had it repaired but we had to tap the splined end of the shaft into the female for the correct length. We had the correct length front shaft (shorter than the rear) but it needed about 1/2" of clearance - meaning it had to be driven into the shaft. I would guess that there is no slip between the splines - is that a problem? We are taking the bent rear out to get a new tube cut and balanced and wondered if we should pull the front at the same time?

The slip joint should be free to slip as the suspension works.

YES, WITHOUT THE CAPACITY TO SLIP, the shaft will bind and stress the u-joint for sure...

Thanks guys - we plan on pulling the rear for the new tube and will take the front along to have them pull apart and clear what ever wa binding it. I did notice that the one spline was missing the felt "seal" under the metal ring.... any ideas for a replacement?

I would imagine your question answers itself. As you notice the felt ring is missing, well, replace it !
