Hey all I have a 75 Ford Bronco with a C4 automatic and I want too hook up a trans cooler. Whats the best way? Go through the radaitor cooler and then to the external cooler or bypass the radiator cooler and go direct to the external cooler. I know its not an M,but old Ford Broncos are pretty cool. Someone on the forum has to have an idea about this thanks.

"Under normal circumstances," the in-the-radiator cooler is perfectly adequate by itself. Under "heavy-duty" conditions, I have seen that bypassed and the trans plumbed directly to the external cooler. For "extreme heavy-duty" stuff, I have seen guys go through the in-the-radiator cooler and then through the external cooler. Which way is right? Beats the heck out of me!

Me too. just thought that while I was replacing the radiator it would be great to add a trans cooler.

Like I said...for most purposes, the stock "in-the-radiator" cooler is good. Adding another cooler only increases the possibility of leaks. Unless you plan to do some really heavy-duty rock crawling or tow a heavy trailer through mountainous terrain, I don't think it would be necessary. If your vehicle came with the heavy-duty towing package, it would probably already have an external cooler. If not, your local dealer can provide you with the instructions for adding one, as can your area RV dealer.

An additonal trans cooler would always be added, in addition to an after, the rad. cooler. Bypassing the rad cooler just reduces the cooling area and defeats the point.

THanks guys for the help. I think I might just forget it. My thinking was that with temps out here running 110 that more cooling is a better thing.
