One "last" winch question...

Should I use a redi-sleeve on the input shaft of the winch? It seems to make sense to keep it from leaking. By the way, the shaft LOOKS great, but who knows what it going on at the micro-level. Which redi-sleeve will work?

Hi Jim: If the shaft is nice and smooth, no grooves or rust pitting, an original good NOS seal will likely work well. Otherwise, I believe redisleeves will end up costing as much or more than a new shaft. John at Midwest Military has the shafts, I have the seals. There is a bit of a trick to installing the bearing retainers and seals. If you decide to go with a new shaft and etc. let me know and we can discuss it. Good Luck, Sid

If you decide you need a shaft replacement, a stainless steel shaft is best. That way you won't have to ever worry about rust pitting being a problem in seal mating areas again.
