Shoe Guide

July 5th, I edited this to add photos of the before. And put a new post at the end of the solution.
On the rear of my truck I am fixing, I have new shoes on my cleaned up brakes. When I put the new return spring on, the shoe facing forward gets pulled out from the backing plate. To me it looks like the Shoe Guide is weak and allows the shoe to get out of place.
Here is the alignment:
Will this cause a problem with the shoe rubbing on the drum? Or am I just worried for nothing.
Yes - The Drum was chewing up the side of the shoe:
Has anyone else changed one of these Shoe Guides as they are riveted on? Would a replacement Shoe Guide need to be riveted or could they be bolted on?

I swapped the guides with some new ones from MWM. I drilled out the rivets and replaced them with button heads and nylock nuts. Did the trick

So far I only have one bad guide. I took a good guide off of a junk truck I have and have ordered some shoulder screws and will try that. I like the button bolt idea.

Ditto Andy's (ASHYERS) response-I removed one of mine and bolted on a new one.

Here is the compare of the old one and a take off from one of my junk trucks:
Shoulder bolts I got but are a little too big diameter:
Had to do the trick where I use a drill and a file to reduce the shaft size to fit:
They fit very well:
Due to the springiness of the holder I had to reverse the heads of the shoulder bolts to be able to fit the nuts on:
Now the drum turns more freely and does not rub the shoe. Looks better:

That occurs from some goomba-head using a screwdriver to pry it up to fit the shoe easier upon rebuild.
We pay for their errors.

That's the nicest looking rug I've ever seen in a workshop.

That's funny! That's the rug my parents had while I was growing up. I was in front of the fireplace and from time to time the hot embers would pop out and melt into the rug. Us kids had to go put them out. So it has issues. But makes something better to sit/lie on than concrete.
