I am thinking of taking my windshield off so I can strip and repaint it. Is there any secret to disconnecting the vacuum line that goes through the hinge on the driver's side?
Thanks

Not a big secret, remove the glass panels, fold windscreen down on to the hood, under the dash, disconnect the vacuum line near the the hinge, remove the vac hose near the pivot bolt, use a wrench on the vacuum side.(socket under the dash) Do the same on the other side.
I did this a long time ago, hope I didn't forget anything?

BTW, you might need another pair of hands on the other side?

Word of advice.
Don't drop the washer or nut into the inner kick panel.

I forgot that one, I taped the opening up, so that would not happen!
