Newbee Axle Questions

Hi everyone.

I'm not a newbee with MVs I've been in the hobby for 25 years and have owned many different vehilces, but never owned or played with an M37 and I'm thinking it's time I got my hands on one and started learning about them...hence I'm on this list now. My questions have to do with the axles. Who made them? Is there a Dana Number for them? Everything I've read seems to indicate that they were an M37 only part is that true? Were they used on civilian Dodges and if so for how long?

Any help in educating me would be very helpful.

Thank you,
Joe

Joe,
They use the same right front inner axle as the WDX-WM300 One Ton Power Wagon from 46 to 68.
Both front outer are the same.Left inner is different length.
They use a Tracta Joint in the knuckles which is the same.
They use the same Dodge 9 5/8 diff. frt/rear. 5.83 ratio.
All knuckle parts are the same. Tie rod Ends, same, rest of the steering is different.
Rear axle shafts are of different length.
Hubs,brakes,drums are the same.
Hope this helps,
TGP

Thanks that helps some...So is there a more modern replacement that can be fitted under the truck?

Yes, but in most cases the more modern axles are wider than stock. They can be installed, but you may have to move spring perches and/or shackles and your tires will stick out beyond the fenders (which is illegal in some states.)
