Fuel Pickup Replacement

Hello all, new to the board and to the M37 (I do have a Willys MB, though!)

I'm in the process of getting a 1963 M37 running that has set for a few years and of course the fuel system is a mess. My question is: Can the fuel pick up be replaced with something else? It seems like I could just drop a fuel line from the pickup into the tank rather than use the apparatus that is standard (and $179 from VPW!!).

Your advice is much appreciated.

Yes you can but put a filter on it because you will have particulate problems down the road.

Welcome to the site and we all look forward to seeing pictures of your project.

The standard unit has a location for the vent line and a pick up line with filter. This is so you don't get water in the fuel when fording. If you don't plan on fording, I think I have a spare tank pickup assy. that has an atmospheric valve and a pickup tube on the flange. $35 shipped if I can dig it up in the shed.
