What is this box attached to the firewall?

Looks like one wire in, one wire out, but one of them is disconnected. My other truck doesn't have the box at all. What special feature am i missing out on? I looked for it on the wiring diagram and don't see it, and the wire that is connected to it goes thru the firewall and joins the main harness without a numbered tag.

oh, it's the ignition suppressor to help keep down radio noise. from before they were installed in the screw plug at the distributor

Isaac,
You might want to make sure the wire going into that filter isn't live, meaning hot, with 24v on it............because if your harness is intact up to that filter it will indeed be hot whenever you turn on the ignition switch. It's wire #12 if it still has a tag on it.
