I built a crane for my M to help me move around parts of other Ms and stuff, Made it out of lightwieght galvanized tube leftover from a green house I built, i think it would have been cheaper and easier in the long run to just buy new steel! Tried it out this weekend and it didnt fold in half....yet

That looks pretty good-especially since the crane kits are so hard to find!

What did you anchor it to in the back?

Its anchored to the pintle hook, I made a bar that drops into the last stake pocket and one that drops int o the first, this routes the rope up over the cab. My brother in law is an arborist and he made me a rope out of winch line with 3 loops in the back and one in the front for a bunch of reach combos depending on weight, the rope is 1/4" and holds around 3000#s

Carter, neat setup, I almost went around the sides like you did but figured one line would be easier for my application. Its really interesting to see what has been done to old MVs over the years, lots of creative people out there

That looks very ingenious, I like to see how people use their M37s and the modifications to make them do what you need. Looks like a great job, Good work!

Sides if the WC were much thicker steel than an M37's cargo box. The chain were over kill and did scratch the paint in a couple of places but that old truck which had been in Europe since WWII had 6 layers and I was not worried about paint condition.
I saw an orig. set up M manual and the tie back cable was attached to the pintle with the tail gate removed and in a front view the windshield was folded onto the hood.

I thought about that method but while this was more work initially it only takes a few minutes to set up plus it clears the seat in the bed for the kids as well as the hard top when its on. I would have to take off the tail gate, remove the seat thats bolted through the bed mounts, remove the hard top when its on and fold down the rusty windshield.... hopefully

I completely understand, much more work. Not telling you how to do it, just how the army thought it should be done. Your rig is great and well thought out and very handy.

Carter not at all thinking you were telling me how to do it, the armys method was much better for them and overall simpler but I have the kids seat and a hard top half the year, plus I have to do things the hard way... Thanks for all the comments, im always looking for ideas and input on my ideas.
