Hey Everyone,

I realized I never entered my serial info into the registry, gasp! I stumbled upon a few puzzles though maybe you guys can help with.

The first is the serial number. It has 10 numbers instead of 9, and it doesn't quite fall into the series listed for those years. Here is a pic of it:

I think it's a 1962, but what variant I don't know.

The other are the bumper markings. I took a picture of those before having it sandblasted. There are a few layers of letters:

I have reason to believe it was assigned to a unit in Texas, likely a National Guard unit. Anyone want to take a stab at it?

Hi jrod,

According to the registry it DOES fall into the series listed for 1962 B1 trucks. Look at pg 61 in the registry. The closest serial number to yours is 2661187606. Seems they all had 10 digit SNs in '62.

regards,
bob

The first bumper shot with the THICK white paint suggests 49th Armor-ARTY which means Artillery, but is incomplete. There should be a numerical designation for which artillery battery on the passenger side then a letter designation for the Company and numerals for the vehicle number on the driver's side.

The thinner white paint suggests 49th Armored as well, then the 2nd of the 8th Supply/Transportation battalion.

That's about all I can make out w/o further eye strain :)
