we were having problems getting the old ball and ball to idle so we tossed it in the weeds and bolted this straight on.

Well, how did it work?
I have a large # of old carbs and including some 2bbl Rochester if you want to go bigger

. The good stuff is the pair of new Vega carbs, Holley/Webers, ohhhhhhhhhhh...

no leaks, no bogs, a bit of a stumble and whistle during acceleration. I think the gasket needs some trimming to open a vacuum port on the base or the throttle pump is worn. but man she started with half a revolution and was smooth and clean. its jetted for a 292 but that 251 loved the mix at idle and wot. hope to take it for a rip in the next few days.

Hello ,
i dont know if this is any help ,but he first B3pw powerwagon i had ,had a Stromberg carb on it and an aluminium spacer about two inches thick on it ,and it ran very well ,probably not the best for off road, i also had it on my M37 and M60l [251 with larger jet ] i had no success with standard carbs [apart from another powerwagon which had the original carb and guzzled gas] when i get my M37 going again im going to use the same set up , i reckon it ran better and had more grunt with the Stromberg on it

Are you guys running civilian 12v distributors when you change to other carburetors? Otherwise, how are you dealing with the distributor cooling lines?

with the height of the monojet being so low a 90deg elbow adapter to the stock air cleaner elbow is very doable, but ya we are running a large cap crown series dizzy on this 251
