Winch lube to use

I just got a new-to-me LU-4 winch, and I need to drain out whatever is in it and refill it with a good lube. Is ISO 460 still the lube type to use? I searched some threads here and that was the preferred lube a few years ago.

I have had good luck with Mobil worm gear oil 600xp460. I bought it from Grainger. Use this oil in both the Steering box and wintch.

I just bought two gallons of that oil from Zoro for less than one gallon from Graingers. $69 total. And free shipping

Thanks for the up-date on price and location. I will look into Zoro's prices for oil and lub.

Thanks for the Zoro tip , less than 40 bucks shipped is way better than Grainger and Amazon . How much oil does both hold, the steering and winch ?

I don't know the volumes of both systems. I was going to fill my new to me winch, and run it for a while with no cable and drain it as a flush, and re-fill it. I am not planning on a winch re-build unless I run into problems with it. And then it is way down on the list of priorities, with brakes being #1. After winch and bumper installation.

The oil showed up a few days ago, with pretty quick shipping
