Hi Guys,

Does anyone have their original round rear view mirror........the one that mounts to the driver's side cowl just ahead of the door? Reason I ask is I'd like to see a pic of an original one....both front and back sides if possible. The repops they sell are all 5", but the ORD says it should be 5-1/2" diameter. I have what I thought was an original, but now I'm not sure. The mirror head on mine is pretty much shot, but it's only 5" in diameter, uses 3 slot head screws, and has no indentations or ribs on he back side. I also can't find any markings on it to indicate who made it. So if you have what you think is an original mirror throw a ruler on it and post a pic or two please. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys!

No one has confirmed the size of the mirror, but at a MV meet today I had an "ah-ha!" moment regarding the side view mirror. I found a bunch of them on vehicles, and even bought one for a buck. I always thought the original mirror had the glass mirror installed with a rubber gasket in the circular frame.....but it doesn't......it's got a metal ring around the edge of the glass that's crimped around the mirror, just like the speedometer glass. No rubber gasket is used. It also uses slot head screws, not Phillips heads. Not sure why I thought there'd be a rubber gasket......maybe because the repops do....but the way they were made sure explains why so few survived.
