Need a Differential in or near Md or Pa.

Yesterday I decided to finally tackle the leaking pinion shaft seal that had already been replaced by a shop where I used to get all my modern vehicle work done, it was just after my surgery and I was not able to do any thing like that on my own. From the beginning the new one leaked and it was not much so I never took it back. Well after the drive to Aberdeen the lube was pouring out and with new seal in hand I decided now is the time. After dropping the driveshaft and pulling the companion flange I discovered the shaft could be moved in any direction as much as 1/4" :shock: I would like to get a replacement differential to install so I might still be able to keep my promise of putting the truck in several local Independence day parades. Need help to do that, then I will be able to try my hand at making this old one serviceable again.

Can anyone help me out? Thanks guys. Carter

Dan; do you know if it is serviceable? Look good inside?

Don't know but it came off a good truck that was scrapped. I have other parts for sale on and off EBay. I also am getting ready to sell my M101 trailer and my Pioneer Tool trailer.

Thanks Dan, can you tell if there is rust on the ring gear? Might be worth a visit to Waxhaw if no rust is present.

From what little I can see there is a rust haze on the ring gear but parts of the ring gear are covered in old oil and crude.

I am in Smyrna, its a complete unit drum to drum from a rolling parts truck, I will need to open it to see the condition
it was flat towed to me from Md and there didn't seem to be a rolling issue.

Thanks for asking Bob;
Stopped looking for a while, Sandy's Dad was in the hospital and all here were worried because he is 94 yrs. old and he went home because there was little more they could for him. Family crisis so to speak.

I was offered one locally but after pulling it from housing all gears exhibited severe pitting so back to square one. Smith in Colorado offered an unseen one for $250 but I will try to find a more local unit.
