Front Motor Mount Removal, Tricks?

I'm chasing a "clunk" and after looking at the motor mounts I've decided to swap them out. The front one is squashed and I suspect the engine is doing a bit of rocking and rolling.
Is there a trick to removing the front mount without tearing down the front of the engine? It looks like it's sandwiched in pretty good, but then again, it's tough to see what's going on at the bottom of the mount. If anyone has a good illustration of the front mount that would be a huge help. Thanks!

I have never had to remove one but it does not look to difficult, I would try loosening the rear mounts for some play in the system then jack the engine after removing the nuts and bolts from the mount and jack some more to allow removal. I am sure others here who have done this job will correct me if I am wrong.
This might help:

Carter,
Perfect! Thanks for the photo. #'s 3 and 4 on the bottom look like they will be fun. Hope we can get to them without too much drama.

I replaced mine by putting a strap around the front of the motor and lifting it just enough to swap them out. I did this when I had the front clip off though. As Carter said, loosen the rear bolts up some for movement. Good luck!

Clark,
I was thinking about lifting the motor from above. We're doing the rears too, to it may make everything easier if we can wiggle the assembly. I'm curious to see if it cures the "clunk".

Don't know. Good luck. My front mount was pretty squished and cracked too. It was also leaning to one side. It was nice to get it replaced. Let us know how it goes...
