Hi Guys,

We know the Air Force bought M37s...........being a separate entity from the Army I assume the Air Force would have had separate manuals (parts, maintenance, etc) for their trucks. Has anyone ever seen an Air Force M37 manual......or did they use the Army manuals? Anybody know for sure either way?

thanks,
bob

Bob, many of the manuals that I have are marked with an Army "TM" (Technical Manual) number, and an Air Force "TO" (Technical Order) number, so it would appear that they shared some publications, just with their own respective numbering systems. Some of them also have a USN NAVDOCS number. And some of the Army publications don't have a corresponding USAF TO or USN NAVDOCS on them, so perhaps they were Army issue only.

For example, the 1955 edition of USA TM 9-8030 Operation and Organizational Maintenance is also marked as USAF TO 36A-1-411. But no USN NAVDOCS number. The 1952 M37 Time Schedule Guide is marked as USA TB 9-1859-2, USAF 19-1A-17, and USN NAVDOCS TP-Tr-7. However, the 1954 ORD 9 SNL G741 List of All Service Parts does not have a USAF TO or USN NAVDOCS number on it.

Although not all of the principle G741 manuals have document numbers from all three services, it's hard to believe that the USAF and/or the USN issued separate manuals for those USA documents that don't have USAF or USN numbers on them.
