Gathering parts: appropriate axles

This is my first post. I'm a young man who owns a 52' M37 that has been my grandfathers. I learned to drive on the M and it has a lot of sentimental value. My grandfather, now 75, and I are going to resto-mod this M and after doing a lot of reading on this forum and others, I'm developing a plan. I'm currently looking for axles. Can you guys give me a summery of appropriate axles I can use and what model donor's they need to come from please. I'm looking for the corporate 14 for the rear (supposed to be bolt in or close w/out much mod/fab work?) and a Dana 44 or 60 for the front (both of which I'll need to move the leaf outside the axle?). I have bookmarked so many links that you guys have given that will help with much of what I'll be needing, but I want to know all my options on what donor trucks will give me the right axle. BTW, our M has a great body, and rides and drives now, but I'm wanting to be able to put radial tires, have disc brakes, and run it on the hwy occasionally. Thanks a ton in advance.

Welcome to the forum, tyler9953! It's nice to hear of a M37 that has been passed down through the family and has some sentimental value attached to it.
There are a number of people on this board that have done some extensive modification on these trucks. Charles Talbot at M-Series Rebuild is one, RMS is another and there are certainly a lot more in the Builders' section of the forum.
Good Luck with your project, and post lots of pictures!

Welcome to the group, You will find lots of information, options and opinions by looking at the Builders Blog. In addition to those members already mentioned, look at the projects by Retiredguy and Master Yota. Both their projects have extensive information, photos and discussion regarding axle replacement and repower. I am still stuck in the past and trying to stay original with my old iron but no adverse to modern improvements for safety, reliability and ease of operation. Disc brakes, power steering and lighting are great improvements if you want to keep the original running gear. M Series Rebuild has some great photos on their upgrades and could offer some ideas. My goal is to start, run and stop reliably and not have to put drip pans under the truck wherever I park... Depending where you are located, there will be other enthusiasts locally to help you along with parts sources, encouragement and technical assistance. Have Fun and don't be discouraged with the length of your journey. Mine has gone on for over 30 years and its still fun. Working with your grandfather will be the big bonus for both of you. My grandson and I are looking at a frame off for one of my trucks but he works in the next province, so that will wait until he is living closer.
