NOS turn signal kits. this is the kit added orignally on m-37's (and others)before the transistorized ones came out in the late 60's.

What these kits are is trouble with a capital"T". The later solid-state kits are 10,000 times better, longer lasting, & more reliable.

I cant speak for anyone else, but on my 715 (that type were orignal equip on the 715) which I have owned for 13 yrs now, the t/s have never failed, that makes 40 yrs come oct., i cant imagine wanting better service

We bought the new military solid state and it was bad right out of the box. We have heard from Charles and Joe Cook that the bad ones start bad but good one tend to last. We actually used a standard 24v 3 prong to trouble shoot (along with speaking to Charles).

My reason behind my statement is this, it isn't that they aren't ok when working. The issue is these control boxes are sealed, the flasher & other components are in the box. Lots of aggrevation to get into the box to replace components if you can get in it at all & if you knew the price of a flasher for that box, just the cost will break your heart. The solid-state system is much less trouble to install with half or less than half the wiring that is involved with the box type. By all means use what you have until it gives trouble, but if a replacement is needed or one is doing an initial installation of turn signals, using the old style is not a sensible decision. You can pick up a 24 volt flasher at NAPA (263-4) that works with the solid-state system & install it in 5 minutes. Not true with the old system.

Charles - you are absolutely on the money. Had I not purchased the cannon type harness and flasher box, I would have used the NAPA part. I bought one @ $23 along with a headlamp 3 prong connector as a back up.
