Front Fender patches...

Front fender patches... I've have the cut metal patches bolted onto the rear of my front fenders was this just done to repair a hole that developed there or was it done for extra support... If they weren't there originally I'd prefer to just remove them and weld a patch in as any metal rubbing against metal will be another place for rust to start in again...

You are talking about the square panel at the rear of the fender correct? It's like a 3x5 inch square (going from memory) with a bolt in each corner to hold it on right? As best as I can remember that is a factory set up. I'm thinking it was like the arctic heater kit if my memory serves me. You can leave it as is or you can weld in a new piece. It's up to you.

Those are original and not repair patches, every M37 has them, the bolt on one is to be removed when installing the fuel burning engine heater.

Hmm, I don't know that I have the panel pictured behind the hammer. I'll have to check mine tomorrow.

The panel behind the hammer is the factory riveted fender reinforcement. Both front fenders have them.
