Left side frame rail, just behind (to the right of) the shock mount in the rail web. May have to remove paint to find it. The number on the data plate on the glove box door is not the full VIN #. That is simply the sequence of manufacture, the complete VIN # is only on the frame rail. Judging from my military experience, a glove box door could have changed 50 times during the trucks military life; believe me, the last thing anyone paid attention too in the military was whether a number matched, it just was not important.

From Squeeky:
Photo of VIN stamp on left frame rail. Front fender support bolts visible top left. "8" digit, first in line double stamped and obscured.

I sent the vin # photo to MM to post because I never could figure out how to load photos on the forum. He must not have known where it came from. It's actually my Strata Blue M56. Thought the image might help Squeeky find the stamping on his frame rail.
