M35 Speedo Cable

Hi Guys,

I know I could answer this one myself, but it's dark and raining outside....and won't be fun climbing under my truck. So if anyone knows the answer that would be great........if not I'll check tomorrow if the rain stops.

The M37 speedo cable is 93" long. I found some nice NOS M35 speedo cables that are 85" long. Will the cable being 8" shorter make a difference.........or is there plenty of slack in the M37 cable when installed??

thanks,
bob

There wasn't much slack in my M37 speedo cable-just enough to pull the dash panel out a scant 3 inches when troubleshooting. My cable came from AB Linn so I'm confident that it an M37 cable even though I never measured the length.

I have a question about speedometer cables. My speedometer fluctuates about 5mph above and below the speed I am going in a rhythmic fashion. Is this slop in the cable, and will just replacing the cable give me a smoothly operation speedometer?

That symptom is usually caused by a dry and dirty cable, take it out of the vehicle, solvent wash, clean and dry the housing and cable, lube with a graphite grease and install the cable in the housing then reconnect to the truck, that should solve the problem or point you in the direction of a defective, dry speedometer head.

The quick answer is no, the deuce cable is too short, and besides that; it doesn't have the correct tang for M37 on the t/case end.
