Is there a specific junction point on the M37 where the positive cable is attached to, the socket was not an original fitment on my truck but I have found a complete one, including cables, at a swap meet and I would like to fit it. Many thanks for any help.

If you could be a little more specific about which auxiliary power outlet you are talking about, I'll try to help you with some specifics. There are 3 or 4 possibilities I can think of immediately (the power plug in the bed, the trouble light / map light outlet on the right lower corner of the dash - below the glove box, the battery / jumper outlet on the left side of the truck at he bottom of the front fender / running board junction and the # 10 command truck socket under / behind the dash instrument panel).
Is it one of these you are working on or something else? A picture would be very helpful.

The battery / jumper outlet on the left hand lower side, just in front of the drivers door.

I ran the positive cable to my main starter post; ground it most anywhere-sorry I don't have an "official" location for either.

The main (positive) post on the starter is the correct location. The ground is usually attached to the frame where the running board support attaches to the frame.
Good Luck and be sure you check all your wires lots and lots of times before you hook your batteries back up or you could have some very unpleasant surprises that will leave you very sad.
